Summer Beauty Tips to Beat the Heat

Summer Beauty Tips to Beat the Heat

The most loved and cherished season of the year summer is here! That means what’s coming your way are beautiful warm mornings, delightful beach activities, outdoor game time and long holiday plans with friends. But there is something else which is coming your way and it is not something you might be waiting for - “the summer baked skin”. The super scorching heat of summer invites nasty tanned skin and tangled frizzy hair. It is the time when your body is deprived of liquid, be it on the inside or the outside. But does it mean to forsake the fun and leisure that the long balmy days to summer have to offer? Of course not!

When it comes to taking care of your body in the summers, one has to follow proper routines, be it the changes in your diet, skin care routine or hair care. Luckily for you, we have collected some expert advice that guides you on how to beat the heat this summer season.

Let’s start with your beautiful face.

Skin tends to change its colour from normal to a tanned one. This is because of melanin produced by the UVA radiations of the sun protecting the skin from getting damaged. Other than the tan, the summer heat can lead to dark spots, pigmentation and wrinkles if not taken care of beforehand. So here are skin care tips to keep you calm, cool and beautiful no matter how hot things get!

Moisturise

As the body tends to lose much liquid because of sweating, it needs more liquid externally. So the first essential thing to do for your skin is to moisturize it. Moisturizing does not end with the winters. It should be a very important part of your summer skin care routine too.

What actually happens is that the summer sun tends to dehydrate your skin and make it dry and dry skin is prone to damage. So, we butter the skin up to make up for the moisture loss. Also, a good moisturizer will act as a barrier for pollutants, bacteria and sunburns.

Cleansing and Exfoliate

For any beauty products, facials or creams to work on your skin, it needs to be clean. But the summers bring with itself dirt and pollution which clogs your skin pores and gives rise to acne, hampering any treatment to seep through and work. This takes us to two essential steps of our skin care beauty regime. Regular cleaning and weekly exfoliation.

Cleansing and exfoliation cleanse the skin of any accumulated dead skin cells which have formed a layer on your skin making it look dull and dirty. Use a face wash or a gentle cleanser for everyday gentle cleansing and a good scrub to vigorously wash away this layer and emerge with a perfectly clean skin

Note that exfoliating your face everyday is a bad idea. Scrubbing should be done once a week or after every 10 days.

Use Sunscreen

Sunscreen is to skin what sunglasses are to the eyes. Yes, the ultimate protection. If you are not wearing a high to moderate SPF Sunscreen lotion, you are choking your skin to death. Always apply a minimum SPF 30 sunscreen once you step out in the sun. Re apply it after regular intervals.

The sunscreen minimizes the effect of sun's harmful rays on your skin, preventing it from a number of damages.

Don’t forget your lips

Harsh sun spares none. It dries the delicate lip tissue and leads to thinning, scales, and spots. Invest in a good lip balm, preferably with an SPF. Re-apply it after regular intervals.

Stack Up on Aloe Vera Gel Aloe Vera gel comes to the rescue of all the skin irritation problems as far as the harshness caused by summer sun is concerned.

Aloe Vera gel is a calming balm, which soothes your skin after you spend a considerable amount of time in the sun. Aloe Vera is anti-inflammatory and it moisturises the skin and nourishes it intensely.

Gulp on skin friendly foods.

In addition to sticking to 8-10 glasses of water everyday, there are some foods which help to keep skin glowing and healthy. Foods, veggies, walnuts, green tea, almonds, berries, kidney beans are some foods that dermatologists recommend for great skin.

After we are sorted with the skin, let’s move on to hair care now

Summer causes hair to become frizzy and dry. You may have shiny and bouncy hair all year around, but lifeless and dull just as summer season hits. This is because the humid atmosphere weighs the hair down making it look limp. Also the dirt, dust pollution and sweat over the scalp causes problems like dandruff, splits, frizziness and hairfall.

Hence summer brings with it nightmares over nightmares for the hair and scalp. And it becomes very important for one to avoid sun exposure. Does that mean staying inside for the entire season. Absolutely no. We rolled up certain hair care tips for you by which you can have the hair that you love even when the sun is on a destruction spree.

Avoid chemicals Summer will anyway dry up your hair. So make sure you go easy on chemical treatments or chemical rich products at this time of the year.

Condition more

When the suns turns harsh, calm your hair with a rinse out conditioner which helps retain the dried out moisture back into your hair to make it luscious again.

Shampoo Gentle Summer heat provokes one to wash hair regularly. Get a mild shampoo which just rinses away the sweat and dirt out of your hair. Not the life out of it !

Avoid heat

As the sun is already heating up your hair and scalp, don’t add fuel to the fire! Go slow on heating curlers and blow dryers and try natural air drying this time.

Tie them up

The best way to control frizz is to tie the hair up. Flaunt your talent of being a hairstylist. Try different hair styles from pony tails to messy braids to knots and buns. Not only will it reduce the chance of sweating but keep the hair frizz free.

The blazing sun of the summer is waiting for you. The above tips won’t let you hide in your rooms. Come out and have some fun. Happy Summer time.
